ARTIST STATEMENT      

My philosophy on art can be expressed best by an earlier New England naturalist, Henry David Thoreau–

“It has come to this-that the lover of art is one; and the lover of nature another, but true art is the expression of our love of nature.”

I first paint for myself-for the joy of making art, but I also paint to honor the natural world I love so-the world of the wild creatures—the world I feel more a part of than the world of humans.

Through my art, I hope to awaken the viewer to the beauty of the world and inspire the desire to preserve and protect this natural world for all creatures to continue to exist.
