FRAMING
I highly recommend having your artwork framed by a professional to assure protecting the piece for years of enjoyment.
Here are some of my recommendations for framing:
- The artwork if on paper may be either single or double matted, but should always be framed under Conservation glass to prevent damage and fading from ultraviolet light.
- Pastels must always be matted or use spacers between the artwork and the glass to prevent pastel from touching the glass. I recommend cutting one mat a quarter inch smaller than the outer mat (mounting it invisibly under the outer mat) to create a space for any loose pastel to sift down into. This prevents any accumulation of pastel on the edge of the outer mat.
- Watercolor artwork must always be matted and framed under glass.
- Mats come in all colors but the mat that best compliments my artwork is usually a light neutral or off white.
